A little history
The ancestor of Basque pelota can be found in the game 'of Paume'. With the discovery of rubber in the 1820s, the development of Basque pelota had to wait until the 19th century. One hundred years later, in 1921, the Fédération Française de Pelote Basque was founded. Today, there are more than fifteen specialities, the best known of which are the 'Main nue', the 'Pala' and the 'Cesta Punta'.
